베테랑 Veteran Kalguksu: Apparently Noodles Can Get Better

Sorry for the hiatus, but I'm back on the blog! But this time I'm taking you all to the other side of the map - in South Korea! I spent roughly a month going through Seoul, Jeonju (the traditional food capital of Korea), and Busan visiting friends...and of course eating with them too. As a big fan of Korean food, my trip has been crazy packed with just eating - to my delight.

Ramen Danbo

So everyone's been talking about a new ramen place in town and it's called  Ramen Danbo which is situated in the heart of Kitsilano. They boast of their authentic Fukouoka Hakata style Tonkotsu (pork based) ramen which has supposedly extremely rich broth and firm,  thin noodles. I was in the area last week and decided that my ramen addiction needed attending to. Here I am to share with you my thoughts from this visit.

The Ramen Butcher

My first post of 2015 welcomes the new The Ramen Butcher, a Chinatown ramen shop opened by the Japanese ramen god Menya Kouji,  to the Vancouver dining scene. To be honest, I never felt too confident about the choice of location for many Chinatown eateries but recently, the continued success of Phnom Penh, Matchstick, and the well received Crackle Creme gives me confidence that non-downtown restaurants can flourish as well. Gyoza Bar + Ramen

Miku and Minami have swept the charts for being some of Vancouver's finest aburi style establishments but now it's time for Aburi Restaurants Canada to tackle a market that has been gaining popularity in the area: gyoza and ramen. As The city's first gyoza bar, the concept of Gyoza Bar + Ramen is definitely intriguing and gaining interest among foodies Vancouver wide. I had the chance to free up my previous Saturday night to attend their opening day as well as a quick late dinner the day after. Please remember that this is an opening day dining experience review!

JaBistro

I'm back with another post of one of my Toronto food adventures! My previous trip to Toronto had me worried about the quality of Toronto's Asian food so this time, I was determined to find a place that could shed a more positive light on the Asian cuisines the city has to offer. To my delight, I found JaBistro, a Japanese run modern bistro which prides itself in its quality ingredients and unique combinations on their menu.

G-Men / Ramen Izakaya @ NanChuu 南廚

A long long time ago.... G Men was actually located in Continental Plaza but I guess there wasn't much enough hustle and bustle there to really take off. I remembering being devastated when I found out they were leaving, I mean where would I get legit Japanese ramen in Richmond anymore? Apparently my prayers were answered around a year and half ago when they re opened under a new name- NanChuu, still run by the same company though.
