Shishinori

Japanese food has been all the rage here in Vancouver and a relatively new addition to the community is Shishinori, a small cafe that serves modernized Japanese food with a bit of a healthy twist. Located not too far from Boradway City Hall Skytrain station, this little eatery boasts of modern, simple, and home-y feeling decor and atmosphere. It's to no surprise that many people call Shishinori their usual spot.

Cafe Joie

Metrotown is somewhere every Vancouverite has been to, but have you been to Cafe Joie? This quaint cafe is located literally 2 minutes away from the big mall and I have to say it is definitely a gem that I will be going back to. Not only is the interior to my liking, but also the type of food they serve: coffee, sandwiches, and waffles! This is a great addition to the Metrotown area which really lacks in establishments of its kind.

Dasarang + Midam Dessert Cafe

Oh how I've been craving some good fried chicken and dessert lately. Thank goodness for my friends who venture restaurants out of my comfort area because I was able to experience some pretty darn good food a while ago in the city's biggest Koreatown-Lougheed!

CRAFT Beer Market

It wasn't too long since since the CRAFT opened back up after speculations of a norovirus outbreak and it's understandable if their customer base has shrunken due to the rumours...but after my visit last week, I can say that CRAFT is still going strong and is still a local favourite among those who venture through the beautiful Olympic Village. My friend and I had initially wanted to visit the Food Truck Festival nearby but were met by a massive rain shower so we went to seek shelter at CRAFT, hoping they would be able to seat us. For a ~3pm meal time, there was quite the lineup to get a spot and we were left with a pager to notify us of an opening.

Campagnolo Roma

You can never really have too much Asian food especially in Vancouver but it's nice to find a decent Western meal every now and then. Campagnolo Roma is a decent looking establishment on Hastings (in East Village) that serves an array of Italian dishes with some local Vancouver product flare. For a limited time during lunch and dinner (and all day Tuesday), Campagnolo offers a pretty amazing deal of a whole pizza and beer for only $18 but my friend and I were looking for something a bit more unique during our visit so we went for the salumi boardfazzoletti verde, and the bucatini all’amatriciana accompanied with none other than a classic San Pellegrino.

Sushi & Roll (Take Out)

Surrey isn't a place I've really took the time to explore but lucky for me, my summer semester this year is mostly in the area. The first of the places on my Surrey food list is Sushi & Roll, a decently large Japanese restaurant located just a block away from Surrey Central and run by a friendly group of Koreans. Sadly I didn't have the time to sit and dine so I opted for take out. The menu is massive and has a crazy amount of variety and unique combinations for some of the lowest prices I've ever seen for quality rolls.
