Blacktail Restaurant + Lounge

I still remember when Blacktail just opened in Vancouver as Blacktail Florist and looking at the preview of the menu. Back then, I was already amazed at the creativity of the menu items and introduction of Scandinavian flavours but was deeply disappointed when it didn't fare so well with the crowd. Fast forward a few months and they were rebranded as Blacktail Restaurant + Lounge with a whole new modern concept which has proven to be successful.

Bistro Verde at Nordstrom

Nordstrom, as many Vancouverites know, is the city's newest place to be downtown as we have finally been blessed with our own Nordstrom. Amongst the designer brands and crowds of anxious shoppers sits Bistro Verde, Nordstrom's very own restaurant which is located on the third floor of the store. Bistro Verde has an upscale (Nordstrom-ish) aura as its interior is sleek and surrounded by big windowed-walls which overlook downtown Howe Street.

Bacchus

Bacchus has surprisingly never been on my radar and I'm not sure if it's just because it's so hidden and underrated or if I'm just not their target customer. The variety of food has expanded and the dining space is nothing short of modern elegance. My review today is based off my most recent two visits

Blue Water Cafe + Raw Bar

Blue Water Cafe + Raw Bar has consistently been commended for nothing short of the best after winning countless awards for Best Seafood from multiple magazines and other awards like Best Yaletown and Best Restaurant. However, those rewards on paper mean nothing if the same quality isn't delivered during the dining experience - which I can gladly say are definitely present. To this day, I've visited Blue Water twice and I can vouch for the consistent good vibes from this place : )

Shirakawa

Did you know about Gastown's Japanese eatery? Well I didn't either until I did a bit of researching for a new transit friendly Japanese restaurant and stumbled upon Shirakawa by Itoh Dining. It's a little window-ful restaurant tucked in right behind Coffeebar on Water Street; easily missed if not for the little sign on the street. For a Friday night, reservations weren't really necessary as maybe only half the tables were filled during our stay.
