If you Google "best brunch in Vancouver", L'Abbatoir is bound to pop up in the search and last weekend, I finally found out why. Ask for a seat in the glass-encased atrium which is beautifully lit with natural lighting and covered with a beautiful mosaic of tiles (which make for great flatlays). Brunch is featured on weekends from 10 AM - 2 PM.
Taking over the original Bao Down spot in Gastown is Edwards Seafood, a cozy San Francisco seafood inspired eatery which showcases the best of sustainable and lesser-known BC seafood. They also exclusively serve 49th Parallel beer by the can which is also used in the batter for the fish in many dishes. Excuse me as I type the rest of this post while drooling.
Thanks to a fellow foodie friend, I was able to pay a visit to Bob Likes Thai Food located further in the Broadway-City Hall area for a tasting. It was my first time here though I had intended to come several times previously so I was surprised to see the cozy and almost hippie/surfer vibes from this restaurant. The interior is almost as charming as the owner, Thai, himself who is clearly very passionate about Thai food and making it more accessible to the local community.
